Kwena Gardens Crocodile Sanctuary

The Kwena Gardens Crocodile Sanctuary is located near the entrance to the resort. Home to 300 Nile crocodiles and the two largest captive crocodiles in the world, the sanctuary offers a fascinating activity for the whole family.

Experience our unique Hot Air Balloon Safari! As the only Hot Air Balloon operation in South Africa to launch from within a National Park, we offer a truly unique flying experience.

Guests are collected at their hotel and taken through the park to rendezvous with the balloon crew.
Instead of heading out to a breakfast venue guests now enjoy breakfast appetizers in the bush with their champagne. This will then be followed by a mini-game drive back to their departure point. What a way to end this breathtaking experience. Flights are early in the morning and you will need to allow for approximately 5 hours for the full experience.

Activity Description
Join us on a once in a lifetime experience! We have Hot Air Balloon Safaris launching from the centre of Pilanesberg National Park.
Guests are collected early morning by a registered field guide, in an open safari vehicle from their respective hotels at Sun City Resort or lodges in Pilanesberg area. Day visitors can be collected from Bakubung Gate. The transfer through the park takes approximately an hour as the balloon launch site is situated in the center of the Pilanesberg National Park. At the launch site the guests will be met by the pilot and crew, who will proceed to give a briefing. Guests will then embark in a 1,2 metre high basket and commence on an unforgettable experience that lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour. This will undoubtedly be the finest way of viewing the inhabitants of the Pilanesberg National Park. On landing, guests will be served with sparkling wine and orange juice in celebration of the flight. The field guide will then convey the guests through the Pilanesberg National Park to a private lodge, where a full English breakfast will be enjoyed. Each guest will receive a first flight certificate signed by the Pilot. On completion of breakfast, guests will be returned to their respective hotels. The total duration of this activity is approximately ±5 hours.

VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE! This activity is extremely weather dependent and a minimum of 4 people are required for the flight to take place. It is advisable that guests book 2 or 3 consecutive mornings as a back up plan.

• Black Rhino Game Lodge is located on the private 2 000 ha Black Rhino Game Reserve which forms parts of the 58 000 ha Pilanesberg National Park. It is a Big 5 reserve and in a malaria free area.
• Black Rhino Game Lodge has got traversing rights into the Pilanesberg National Park.
• Guest access is only via the Black Rhino Game Reserve entrance gate, located on the R565 Derdepoort road. There is no public access between the national park and the reserve.
• The road is tarred till by the main entrance gate and in good state of repair. A good quality gravel road leads from the gate to the lodge, located about 3 km inside the reserve and accessible with a sedan.
• All guests entering in to the reserve have to sign an indemnity at the gate. This is standard procedure. The speed limit in the reserve is only 30 km/h (18 mi/h) and is strictly enforce for their own safety.
• Guest cannot stop and exit their vehicles in the reserve.
• No self-drive game drives are allowed on the Black Rhino Game Reserve. Should guests wish to do a self drive of the Pilanesberg National Park, they have to exit the reserve and enter at one of the national parks gates (fees are applicable at the gate). Bakubung gate is the closest.
• No day visitors are allowed on the Black Rhino Game Reserve, it is for exclusive use of overnight guests.
• The entire lodge is fenced in with an electric fence and it is safe to walk outside.
• Guests are not permitted to leave the entry gate at the lodge on foot.
• Safety plans are in place for emergencies.

Conservation Fees:
Gate entry fees for Black Rhino will be R121 per person per night and R71 per child (4 - 11 years) per night. Guest arriving at the lodge with a transfer vehicle will be charged at reception.

Speed Limit:
Pilanesberg has is a large network of roads covary 200 kilometres. Please take note that the Speed limit - 30km/h.

Safety Precautions:
Please adhere to the Pilanesberg National Park safety precautions, and do not disembark from your vehicle unless you are in a designated area.

Located in the west side of the ‘Malaria Free’ Pilanesberg National Park, and only 33 km from Sun City, The Black Rhino Game Lodge is built between a Tamboti forest, overlooking a busy waterhole, which is a hive of bird and animal activity, and a playground for the elephants. On many occasions, the roaring of lions breaks the stillness of the night, and the franklins singing the morning wake up call. 

Lodge Information:

• The lodge consists of 18 thatched, free standing chalets with en-suite facilities
• The pathways to the rooms are not lit, but a flashlight is provided with every key.
• The main centre houses the kitchen, restaurant, bar and lounge areas. Dinning is outdoors on the deck, but it is weather dependant. The indoor restaurant area has got a fire place.
• The main centre faces a waterhole. Animals are sighted from time to time.
• There is a hide next to the lodge that overlooks the waterhole
• Wi-Fi is free of charge and only available in the main centre.
• Service may disturbed due to bad weather (connection is via satellite) or Power failures and Technical issues
• The lodge has got 3 splash pools. Pool towels are provided.
• The lodge has got a generator if there is a power failure, due to regulations; it can only run till 22:00 pm.

The Amazing Race (Basic or Advanced) 

Explore the rich and dynamic history of Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela tribe, the people of Pilanesberg. This exciting tour takes you to four Bakgatla heritage sites combined with a travel through the village on bicycles. The route has some off-road experience and mountainous tar road and includes stops at the cemetery of the first missionaries to arrive in Moruleng in the 1800’s, a stop at Kgosi Kgamanyane’s wall, a local shebeen/tuck shop for some refreshments and interaction with the locals, the first non-missionary school, the rain making rock.
Followed with a stop at “Tshilong” where guests will get a traditional beer welcome drink and learn about traditional food preparations and get hands on involved in the process. Survivor Adventure Team Building

The challenges are roughly based on the same principles as the popular Survivor TV series and 90’s Camel Trophy Adventures. Participants have to interact to cross an imaginary river, or start a fire with very few resources, or follow an elementary compass reading. Practice your aim with a few shooting exercises using a Pellet gun, use a bow to shoot a 3D target such as an Impala or Warthog for meat, drive a quad through our precision driving course and get the adrenalin pumping by doing it blindfolded! The great equalizer challenge at the end offers losing teams the final opportunity to catch up for a possible surprise win. . . This is a great activity for really getting the competitive team dynamics going.

Mountain Biking – Letsatsin Game Park, Sun City Resort

Mankwe GAMETRACKERS is very excited to announce that we will have a mountain bike route through the Letsatsing Game Park. The route covers a distance of 9.7 km through a private game park situated in the Sun City Resort bordering the Pilanesberg National Park. It is a 700Ha reserve with plenty of wildlife such as Wildebeest, Impala, Sable, Zebra, Giraffe, Warthogs, Nyala, Kudu and much more, not to forget about all the smaller creatures, critters, and bird life. The mountain bike route consists of rocky terrain, rivulets and mountainous terrain that is not too steep.

Chimp & Zee Rope Adventure  Park (Valley of Waves, Sun City Resort)
Our rope adventure course is a fun outdoor recreational activity that’s certainly not just for kids, it’s great fun for the whole family! The course is made up of various ‘elements’ – from high balancing beams, speedy zip lines, hanging spider nets to jungle rope bridges and much more. It’s designed with specific elements that require a different approach and set of skills to complete. Join us for an exciting and fun packed adventure.

Family Bush Walk   (Letsatsing Game Park, Sun City Resort)
The family walks will be conducted in Letsatsing game park bordering the Pilanesberg National park but still within the boundaries of Sun City. It is a 700Ha reserve with plenty of wildlife such as Wildebeest, Impala, Sable antelope and Nyala and much more not to forget about all the smaller creatures, critters and bird life.

While doing this activity one of our qualified field guides will collect the guests at the departure point and proceed to Letsatsing game park. Once in Letsatsing guests and our guide will disembark from the Game Drive vehicle and the bush walk will commence. Going as close to the animals without scaring them away or disturbing them too much. We will then also focus a bit more on the behavior of the different animals and look at certain aspects that they leave behind like tracks, dung, and signs that we might pick up on them.

Reservations

• All reservation requests will be confirmed in writing by electronic mail subject to availability of requested dates & times.
• A minimum number of pax is required for certain activities and each activity has a maximum capacity.

Payment & Cancellation

• Full payment is required 7 days prior to the first activity booked.
• All changes must be in writing & all amendments must be received at least 7 days before the activity takes place. Should we not receive any amendments in writing; the total confirmed pax will be charged.
• A 100% cancellation fee will apply should a cancellation or amendment be made within 7 days of the first activity booked.
• Mankwe Gametrackers Management reserves the right to cancel any transfer or activity due to unforeseen circumstances including, but not limited to, the lack of minimum passengers, weather conditions and none payment.
• In the case of a weather cancellation, weather conditions are judged exclusively by Mankwe Gametrackers Management.
• In the event of a Mankwe Gametrackers management cancellation a full refund will be given on the amounts paid.
• No shows or last-minute cancellations will not be refunded unless a Dr’s note is produced

Indemnity Forms

• All guests are required to sign an indemnity online for all transfers and activities that they are participating in, prior to the departure.
• A link will be sent via e-mail or SMS, 24 hours prior to your activity/transfer date.
• In the case of a guest refusing to sign the indemnity form the guest will not be able to partake in the activity/transfer and will not receive any refund.
• The indemnity form must be signed by a Parent/Legal guardian for children under 18 years of age.
• Any unaccompanied minor (a person under 18 years of age) requires the indemnity to be signed by a Parent/Legal guardian prior to the activity/transfer.
• The required indemnity form can be signed online from your mobile phone to ensure that you have sufficient time to read and understand the conditions.

Children

Children are classified as a passenger, therefore, on certain activities, the full rate will apply to them. 

The following age/height/weight limits apply:

• Hot Air Balloon Safari – needs to be taller than 1.2m
• Quad Biking - Under 8 years can be lifted by an adult – no under 5 years
• Chimp & Zee Rope Adventure – needs to be taller than 1.2m
