Bush Walks 

• Each day guests are offered the opportunity to experience our Nature Reserve on foot. 
• Bush Walks provide a unique opportunity for nature lovers and adventure seekers to experience the amazing African wildlife up close.
• Each bush walk is led by a highly qualified, enthusiastic, Game Guide ensuring guests safely experience this unique experience.

Depending on their age, young children will join in open game drive vehicles for safety reasons. Guests will kick-start the day with steaming hot coffee and homemade rusks, before venturing out at around 6:30 am. At around 8:00 am guest return to sit down to a sumptuous breakfast buffet.

Game Drives 
Our highly skilled Game Guides will accompany guests in the morning and early evening in open 4x4 game drive vehicles. Their extensive knowledge and training ensures that your game experience will be unforgettable, exciting and informative. 

This private reserve is known for its close encounters with a vast variety of game including the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino). 

In addition, all game drives on the reserve coordinate their game viewing activities which ensure the best of sightings. Halfway through the early evening game drive there's a stop for sundowners and snacks, before returning to the lodge at around 7:00 pm, with enough time to freshen up before sitting down to a buffet dinner served in the open air boma (weather permitting).

Activity time table will vary in summer and winter months.

General Information

• Keep clothing colours as neutral and as light as possible, so you blend in better with the surrounding environment. Khaki, beige, brown and green are generally best, as darker and brighter colours attract unwanted mosquitoes and insects.
• During certain times of the year malaria may be more prevalent in certain areas and we therefore suggest a mosquito repellent like Peaceful Sleep or something similar. Alternatively contact your local GP regarding the necessity of malaria prophylaxis.
• A pair of comfortable walking shoes for bush walks or when off the game drive vehicle.
• Meals are informal, so smart attire is not required.
• Please pack a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, flashlight and binoculars.
• Electricity at Tshukudu is a 220-volt alternating current system. Wall plug units take a round two-prong European plug. It is advisable to bring the necessary converter or adapter from your home country, should you need to charge cameras or laptops. Alternatively, international adaptors are available at the Reception Desk.
• Remember to pack your camera as well as a video camera, along with all the necessary plugs, chargers and memory cards needed.
• There is a Wi-Fi hotspot in the general public area of the veranda and reception.
• Cellular phones work in most areas of South Africa and also in certain areas within the reserve, although it is not permitted to take cellular phones on game drive vehicles as they are considered an intrusion
• All our units are supplied with amenities such as soap, shower gel and shampoo. You may, however, wish to bring your favourite toiletries with you.
• The lodge offers a laundry service at a nominal additional rate.

When you visit Tshukudu, we ask that you leave all the trappings of city life behind - including your car. Guest vehicles can be parked in protected parking bay at Bakubung Bush Lodge.

Quad Biking

Search for adventure and wildlife on one of our four- wheelers, while negotiating natural obstacles en-route. The Amazing Race (Basic or Advanced) 

Explore the rich and dynamic history of Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela tribe, the people of Pilanesberg. This exciting tour takes you to four Bakgatla heritage sites combined with a travel through the village on bicycles. The route has some off-road experience and mountainous tar road and includes stops at the cemetery of the first missionaries to arrive in Moruleng in the 1800’s, a stop at Kgosi Kgamanyane’s wall, a local shebeen/tuck shop for some refreshments and interaction with the locals, the first non-missionary school, the rain making rock.
Followed with a stop at “Tshilong” where guests will get a traditional beer welcome drink and learn about traditional food preparations and get hands on involved in the process. Afterwards the tour will end at TT’s for traditional pap, veggies, meat and a soft drink before heading back to Sun City.

Survivor Adventure Team Building

The challenges are roughly based on the same principles as the popular Survivor TV series and 90’s Camel Trophy Adventures. Participants have to interact to cross an imaginary river, or start a fire with very few resources, or follow an elementary compass reading. Practice your aim with a few shooting exercises using a Pellet gun, use a bow to shoot a 3D target such as an Impala or Warthog for meat, drive a quad through our precision driving course and get the adrenalin pumping by doing it blindfolded! The great equalizer challenge at the end offers losing teams the final opportunity to catch up for a possible surprise win. . . This is a great activity for really getting the competitive team dynamics going.

Mountain Biking – Letsatsin Game Park, Sun City Resort

Mankwe GAMETRACKERS is very excited to announce that we will have a mountain bike route through the Letsatsing Game Park. The route covers a distance of 9.7 km through a private game park situated in the Sun City Resort bordering the Pilanesberg National Park. It is a 700Ha reserve with plenty of wildlife such as Wildebeest, Impala, Sable, Zebra, Giraffe, Warthogs, Nyala, Kudu and much more, not to forget about all the smaller creatures, critters, and bird life. The mountain bike route consists of rocky terrain, rivulets and mountainous terrain that is not too steep.

The course is made up of various ‘elements’ – from high balancing beams, speedy zip lines, hanging spider nets to jungle rope bridges and much more. It’s designed with specific elements that require a different approach and set of skills to complete. Join us for an exciting and fun packed adventure.

The family walks will be conducted in Letsatsing game park bordering the Pilanesberg National park but still within the boundaries of Sun City. It is a 700Ha reserve with plenty of wildlife such as Wildebeest, Impala, Sable antelope and Nyala and much more not to forget about all the smaller creatures, critters and bird life.

While doing this activity one of our qualified field guides will collect the guests at the departure point and proceed to Letsatsing game park. Once in Letsatsing guests and our guide will disembark from the Game Drive vehicle and the bush walk will commence. Going as close to the animals without scaring them away or disturbing them too much. We will then also focus a bit more on the behavior of the different animals and look at certain aspects that they leave behind like tracks, dung, and signs that we might pick up on them.
Duration: 21⁄2 hrs
Min-Max: 4-20 pax (max 8 per area)

• A link will be sent via e-mail or SMS, 24 hours prior to your activity/transfer date.
• In the case of a guest refusing to sign the indemnity form the guest will not be able to partake in the activity/transfer and will not receive any refund.
• The indemnity form must be signed by a Parent/Legal guardian for children under 18 years of age.
• Any unaccompanied minor (a person under 18 years of age) requires the indemnity to be signed by a Parent/Legal guardian prior to the activity/transfer.

Children are classified as a passenger, therefore, on certain activities, the full rate will apply to them.

Experience our unique Hot Air Balloon Safari! As the only Hot Air Balloon operation in South Africa to launch from within a National Park, we offer a truly unique flying experience.

Guests are collected at their hotel and taken through the park to rendezvous with the balloon crew.
Instead of heading out to a breakfast venue guests now enjoy breakfast appetizers in the bush with their champagne. This will then be followed by a mini-game drive back to their departure point. What a way to end this breathtaking experience. Flights are early in the morning and you will need to allow for approximately 5 hours for the full experience.

Activity Description
Join us on a once in a lifetime experience! We have Hot Air Balloon Safaris launching from the centre of Pilanesberg National Park.
Guests are collected early morning by a registered field guide, in an open safari vehicle from their respective hotels at Sun City Resort or lodges in Pilanesberg area. Day visitors can be collected from Bakubung Gate. The transfer through the park takes approximately an hour as the balloon launch site is situated in the center of the Pilanesberg National Park. At the launch site the guests will be met by the pilot and crew, who will proceed to give a briefing. Guests will then embark in a 1,2 metre high basket and commence on an unforgettable experience that lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour. This will undoubtedly be the finest way of viewing the inhabitants of the Pilanesberg National Park. On landing, guests will be served with sparkling wine and orange juice in celebration of the flight. The field guide will then convey the guests through the Pilanesberg National Park to a private lodge, where a full English breakfast will be enjoyed. Each guest will receive a first flight certificate signed by the Pilot. On completion of breakfast, guests will be returned to their respective hotels. The total duration of this activity is approximately ±5 hours.

VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE! This activity is extremely weather dependent and a minimum of 4 people are required for the flight to take place. It is advisable that guests book 2 or 3 consecutive mornings as a back up plan.

Things to Bring Camera and a set of binoculars.
Guests or Spectators Guests wanting to follow only (not fly) can be accommodated on request. "Following guests" can only be booked with our office and must be booked at least 48 hours prior. The "following rate" is available on request and is inclusive of the Game Drive and breakfast at the lodge.

Guests are to be reasonably fit, as they are required to climb into a 1.2-metre high balloon basket and be able to crouch down on their haunches on landing. Due to safety reasons, pregnant women are not able to do this activity.
